Sometimes I am hardheaded. It can be difficult for me to get out of my comfort zone. Especially when it comes to listening to new artists. I have been trying my gosh darn hardest to listen to music I normally don’t listen to. But you know one genre that I can listen to 25/8 is R&B. The mix of different genres within this one genre never fails to surprise me. Anyways, an artist that I recently started listening to is H.E.R. I have actually heard of H.E.R. but I never listened to any of her music. Like always I was just pressing the forward button on Spotify when “Sometimes” came on.

The piano that begins this song is soft and rises to meet the next instrument that enters which is the guitar. Right after H.E.R. vocals smoothly enter. The beginning of this song is automatically heaven to my ears. The rhythm of this song is a nice steady head bob. Of course, after listening to this one song I knew I would love her other songs.

The lyrics of this song I feel like I can connect to on a daily basis. When your having a bad day and things just go to shit is a day this song is talking about. You work so hard for something and then things fall through the cracks. Relatable.

When I come across songs from artist that I never heard anything from, and easily fall in love with their sound, I feel like I have become 1% happier. It is times like this where I am reminded that I need to step out of my comfort zone of my favorite artist and listen to someone new.
