I have never listened to a Dreamcatcher album before. So, I went in listening with no expectations. I just wanted the music to tell a story without any pre-conceived notions of the album. The Intro gave the album its story in the short 1 minute and 20 seconds. For some reason when I listened to the Intro in my mind the lady’s in this group are running away or toward something and this is the song that is playing in the background. From the Intro the album’s second song is the title track called Scream. I have already listened to this song before on my YouTube Channel. This song was a surprise when I first listened to it. But the song fits perfectly within this album, and a perfect song right after the Intro track. Tension and Red Sun have a similar feeling as what the Intro track gives off. But I will say Red Sun has a darker feeling. Once the chorus comes on the song flowers off to a mystical feeling. This is a song I can envision their performance to be the climax of a movie. One of the main points that captures your attention.

Black or White has a more rock feel to it. The guitar starts the song off strong and then enters the drums that almost carries the guitar sound. Then once the vocals and heavy instruments enters a jazzy feel comes in for the chorus. This foreshadows the next song called Jazz Bar. When I first heard the song and realized how the song is right in the middle of the album’s track list, I was a bit confused. Because from the title of the song, as you would expect, the song is definitely a Jazz song. Again, which was interesting to me. But like I said from Black or White I think it fits in well.

These two types of songs I feel like show off this groups versatility to switch between genres but still keep their Dreamcatcher touch to the songs.

Also, I must add Jazz Bar is probably my favorite song off the album. Sahara is the song that brings back the sound to the beginning of the album from the Intro track. The repetition of the word “ra” I feel like adds a heavier sound to the song. Which I like. Especially at the break down towards the end of the song. In the Frozen has more of a Rap feeling to it, but the softness of the vocals along with the slow down and then rapid parts of the song gives the song a more Electric Pop feeling. From these songs the Jazzy, R & B feeling is back in Daybreak. This is a song that is a chill song that I would listen to relaxing in my room. Coming full circle with a similar sound to Scream the second to last track on the album is Full Moon. I feel like sound wise this is a great song to end with. The heavy beats, the loud instruments, and the vocals are there. One thing I do wish was part of the ending of this album is that the last song connected to the Outro track seamlessly. But the that does not go without saying that the Outro track, even though short, ended the album well. There are also two other songs on this album that I will not be talking about, because one is the instrumentals to Scream which is nice. And the other is a solo song by one of the members.

For a first listen to Dreamcatcher album I am very impressed with the entire album. I feel like I was taken through a journey. Just from the music video I saw of Scream that journey was filled with battles and love. This mix of Jazz, Rock, R & B, and Pop I feel like was pulled off nicely in this album. I loved listening to this album and hope to listen to another one soon. These are my thoughts.
